“BIOSPHERIC CITY” THE EXIBITION BY XAVIER MARY 9/2025

Antonini Milano and Progetto Ludovico announce the exhibition of “Biospheric City” by Belgian artist Xavier Mary, hosted in the prestigious halls of Palazzo Borromeo, the historic showroom of Antonini Milano. The initiative, curated by Progetto Ludovico and supported by Groupe Dumarey, an European manufacturer of high-precision automatic gearboxes for luxury vehicles, creates a fascinating dialogue between Milan’s historical and cultural layers, its design heritage, and the artist’s futuristic vision.

The “Biospheric City” installation within Palazzo Borromeo, a place steeped in history and home to extraordinary 15th-century frescoes, creates a high-impact contrast and synergy, embodying the beauty and culture that have always characterized the Antonini Milano brand.

The exhibition’s centerpiece is a monumental sculpture that transforms truck gearbox casings into a futuristic architectural form. This reinvention of industrial architecture is intrinsically linked to the artist’s practice of exploring industrial materiality and its contemporary echoes. Mary reworks elements of modernity—highways, neon signs, and heavy machinery—into a sculptural language that merges a fascination with the machine with a critical eye on its legacy and future.

The exhibition concludes with a return to the figurative image, creating continuity between the frescoes room and the white room, the drawing titled “Sorrows of Dark Enlightenment,” which serves as both a tribute to Milan and a reflection on the inner world that divides each of us as citizens of the modern world.
